The badge was introduced over a decade ago on the side of the Kop but it is being removed today. The Star state that it has been present on the North Stand side of stand for a number of years, meaning it has been impossible for people going past on Penistone Road to miss it.

A temporary badge has also been placed on a giant flag above the main reception at the end of the South Stand bridge, which includes the updated badge. Also, the logistics of removing the former badge from the side of the Kop meant it was never going to be an easy task.

It's said that construction workers had to close one lane of traffic on the road to carry out the work. The next steps are plans to replace the old badge with the new design in a similar format. The removal of the old badge has left markings where it was placed, which are now set to be covered up by a new badge.
