Toby Collyer’s Manchester United departure looms larger following a new report highlighting a key Hull City update.

On Tuesday, United confirmed the arrival of Carlos Baleba from Brighton & Hove Albion. Baleba marks United’s third midfield signing after Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans from Chelsea and Aston Villa respectively.

United’s planned midfield restructuring, which was a primary objective heading into the summer window, is now nearing full completion, with player departures representing the sole outstanding item.

Baleba’s recruitment means that Collyer is likely to be pushed even further down the pecking order, making a departure even more likely.

A report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that United are open to parting ways with the Carrington academy graduate. Collyer is understood to also be keen on heading out in search of regular first-team opportunities. The player holds a firm belief that he is now prepared for a consistent Premier League role and he is keen to demonstrate that on the pitch.

West Bromwich Albion have been mentioned as admirers of Collyer. More recently, it emerged that Hull, who beat United 2-0 last weekend, also want to sign the Englishman.

Collyer split last season between West Brom and Hull but injuries at both ends thwarted any chance of building momentum.

With deadline day fast approaching, the BBC has revealed where the 22-year-old is more likely to end up.

Simon Stone reports, “Hull City are emerging as the favourites to sign Manchester United midfielder Toby Collyer.”

“It did appear the Baggies were in pole position to complete a deal.”

“However, Hull have also been considering whether to try to bring Collyer back to the club where he spent the second half of the 2025-26 campaign, which was also disrupted by injury.”

Stone explains that no decision has been made yet but Hull are in an advantageous position due to their Premier League status.
