The American businessman was reportedly interested in takeovers at both the Owls and the Rams earlier this season.
John Textor has been removed from his position as director of Eagle Football Holdings, just months after he showed an interest in takeovers of two separate Championship clubs.
The American businessman left French outfit Olympique Lyonnais in June, resigning from his position as the controlling stakeholder with the Ligue Un side struggling financially. The club kept hold of their top flight status following an appeal just a month later.
In July, he sold his stake in Premier League side Crystal Palace to Woody Johnson after the Eagles won the FA Cup the previous season. From there, his attention turned to the Championship, with the 60-year-old first looking to rescue Sheffield Wednesday.
Dejphon Chansiri's decision to put the Owls into administration was met with relief at Hillsborough in the summer, but he later admitted that this interest was 'overstated'. Soon after, Alan Nixon reported that Textor was interested in Derby County, but with this new update, his future in football leaves many questions to be asked.
On Wednesday, it was revealed by French outlet l'Equipe that Textor had been dismissed by Eagle Football Holdings, a multi-club football ownership company that oversees the running of Botafogo in Brazil, Lyon in France and RWDM Brussels in Belgium.

However, after allegedly trying to gain control of Lyon once again, investor Ares has let go of the American and his position at Botafogo is now in the spotlight.
Textor has overseen the running of the Brazilian outfit since 2022, and has brought great success to the club, with a league title as well as the Copa Libertadores. However, his role in South America is under threat, and he could be let go following the fallout from Wednesday's meeting with Lyon chiefs.
Nevertheless, a decision on his future at Botafogo can only be made by the board of directors of the Société Anonyme de Football, or the court of Rio de Janeiro.
Nixon also stated that Derby are available for £60m, as David Clowes looks to bring in significant investment to help his club push towards the Premier League and beyond in the years to come.
However, it seems unlikely that Textor will be involved with there currently no further update on a potential takeover of the Rams, and Clowes remains firm on how he wants to sell the Championship club.

'Integrity, Progress and Stability' is how Derby's owner wishes to run the East Midlands outfit, and with Textor's situation in Europe and South America, it is perhaps a situation that Clowes will want to avoid.
Meanwhile, Sheffield Wednesday remain in administration, but talk about a takeover involving the American looks to be long in the past.
