Napoli defender Sam Beukema reveals he was ‘surprised’ by the humility of Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku: ‘We have joked many times.’

Beukema released an interview with Lega Serie A before a crucial Serie A match against Milan.

The Netherlands international was one of the many new summer signings at the Stadio Maradona, alongside De Bruyne.

The Manchester City legend joined his compatriot Romelu Lukaku at Napoli.

“They are two high-level players. They surprised me a bit, because they are very humble,” Beukema said.

“We have joked many times together, and they’ve helped me settle into the group. Lukaku has been here for one year already. I’m so happy to be here with them and face them in training sessions. I can’t wait to continue with them.

“I chose Napoli because you don’t receive a call from the defending champions every day. Obviously, it was a great honour,” said the ex-Bologna centre-back.

“I think they’ve chosen me mostly for my skill sets. I always want to give my all and improve to help the team. I like to adapt to every system I play. I’m already on good terms with all the defenders here in Napoli: Amir, Juan, Alessandro and Luca. If the mister needs me to play in a three or four-man defence, I’ll be ready.”
