Manchester City are increasingly likely to face Bukayo Saka in action for Arsenal on Sunday afternoon, after his injury scare sustained against Tottenham.

The England international became the second big-name to leave Arsenal staff sweating via an injury problem in quick succession, following on from Martin Odegaard’s issues whilst away on international duty.

The Norwegian midfielder and Emirates Stadium club captain was withdrawn from duties whilst in action for his country, as an ankle problem would leave him sidelined from the North London derby on Sunday afternoon.

It is expected that Odegaard will also miss Arsenal’s UEFA Champions League opener against Atalanta this week, and is likely to remain ruled out of duties for the trip to the Etihad Stadium at the weekend.

But in amongst all the bad news for Arsenal concerning their captain, a new report has issued an update on Bukayo Saka following the problem that cut short his performance against Tottenham at the weekend.

According to the information of the Evening Standard’s Simon Collings, Arsenal are now confident that Bukayo Saka will be fit for their trips to Atalanta and Manchester City this week after the winger limped off against Tottenham on Sunday.

The England international is understood to have been suffering with cramps, according to the report, and as such it is hoped he will make a full recovery this week in time for two mammoth contests for Mikel Arteta’s side.

Over in the Manchester City camp, Pep Guardiola’s side continue to handle the longer-term absences of Oscar Bobb and Nathan Ake, with the former ruled out through a fractured bone in his leg sustained prior to the start of the new Premier League season.

As for the Dutch defender, Ake is set to be ruled out until the next international break with a muscular problem sustained on national team duty, meaning he could miss a total of seven matches for Manchester City across all competitions.

Phil Foden is continuing to rebuild his own personal fitness following a lengthy absence through illness, but returned to the Manchester City matchday squad against Brentford, despite being an unused substitute.
