Milan’s meeting with Como in February 2026 is now highly unlikely to be held in Perth due to fresh restrictions from the Asian Football Confederation and Football Australia, reports Gazzetta.

Milan’s Serie A clash against Como in February 2026 was meant to be played in Perth, Australia, after FIFA and UEFA had reluctantly agreed to the request from the two clubs and Lega Serie A.

Even the Asian Football Confederation and Football Australia had given the green light for the match to be played in Perth, but according to Gazzetta, new restrictions have emerged and are expected to disrupt Milan and Como’s plans.

According to Gazzetta, the approval from the Asian Football Confederation and Football Australia came with conditions considered too restrictive. These included a ban on marketing the event as a Serie A match and the obligation to appoint AFC referees rather than those from Italy’s CAN, as would normally be the case in domestic competition.

Those demands have effectively stalled the project and halted plans for what would have been the first Serie A match staged outside Italy. While the situation is not completely closed, the chances of a late breakthrough appear slim, and the scenario has become significantly more complicated in recent days.
