Even with League One staring them in the face, it's fair to say that Sheffield Wednesday fans are scrambling for positive takeover news, with the James Bord saga rumbling on for Wednesday for some time now.

Bord's Sheffield United connection has sparked major discourse as well in recent weeks, but fans remain anxious due to slow communication from administrators. That said, updates are coming out thicker and faster for Wednesday fans now.

Bord buying Wednesday will cost north of £30 million, which is much lower than the initial asking price set by Dejphon Chansiri. Despite some question marks remaining, Sheffield Wednesday fans are starting to become excited about the idea of a new dawn.

There has since been an update regarding the situation, with some potentially exciting and positive news on the situation.

In the last day, Sheffield Wednesday’s proposed takeover led by Bord has reportedly led to concerns from the IFR. That's because they are also concerned about the lack of alternative options to complete a takeover should the Bord bid collapse.

However, the EFL are still yet to approve Bord's Wednesday bid as well, and Bord being sued by Jonathan Cohen has complicated matters somewhat. But all of that appears to be immaterial.

Alan Nixon has provided the following update on Bord's proposed bid, with Bord reportedly aiming to be in charge at Hillsborough imminently. A timeline has emerged regarding the situation between all parties involved.

Nixon states that they are working on being in charge within six weeks, with talks progressing with the EFL as they make their checks. The talk is that they expect Bord and co. to be cleared by April.

He adds that an unnamed former Scottish footballer looks set to have a senior role when they eventually take charge, while Henrik Pedersen's future will also be a priority. He is under contract for some time and a payoff is payable by the incoming owners.

League One-bound Wednesday have earned just one victory in more than 30 second tier attempts, and remain on a negative points tally, courtesy of previous deductions. The writing has been on the wall from the first kick for Pedersen and co.

It's why they are craving clarity on the long-term, with the short-term bleak and obvious in equal measure. However, despite the Owls' struggles both on and off the field, the 48-year-old deserves a great amount of respect and admiration for his role in difficult circumstances.

Pedersen, who formerly assisted Danny Rohl, saw the German move on from his Wednesday stint, but remained loyal even though ex-owner Dejphon Chansiri was consistently failing to pay staff and player wages on time at Hillsborough.

Fans deserve credit for their patience, but Pedersen also comes out of the current situation with a heck of a lot of credit. They can be proud of that aspect this season, even if there is very little else to be pleased about.

But this latest update could provide a huge lift to the club and fans, with Pedersen also desperate for some more hope about 2026/27 and beyond. He may not be the man to turn things around in the third tier, however.
