Spurs manager Thomas Frank has reportedly approved the signing of Mathy Tel from Bayern Munich in the summer transfer window.

The 20-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan with Tottenham Hotspur, scoring two goals in 13 Premier League appearances and helping the club win the Uefa Europa League.

The loan arrangement included a £50 million option to make the deal permanent, but it appears Spurs have managed to negotiate a lower price with the Bavarian outfit.

The two clubs are “in the final stages” of completing a deal worth £30m, according to Sky Sports News, who also claim that Frank has given the move his seal of approval.

German outlet BILD report there will be £5m in potential add-ons. After paying a £7.3m loan fee in January, Tel could cost Spurs up to £42.3m in total.

The French forward was always likely to leave Bayern this summer after finding his gametime limited under manager Vincent Kompany, who guided the club to the Bundesliga title in his debut campaign in charge.

Having replaced Ange Postecoglou with Frank in the dugout, Spurs are now in the process of overhauling their squad after a dreadful campaign in which they finished in 17th place in the Premier League table.

The Lilywhites have reportedly opened talks with Brentford over a possible deal for Bryan Mbeumo, who excelled under Frank since joining the Bees from Troyes in 2019. The 25-year-old replaced the void left by Ivan Toney, scoring 20 goals last season, and is valued at more than £60m.

The Guardian also reports that the north London side are “interested” in strike partner Yoane Wissa and have had “internal discussions” about a move. The DR Congo international’s contract expires next summer, but Brentford have the option to extend for a further year and are likely to command a £40m transfer fee for the striker.
