Is a transfer duel brewing between FC Bayern and Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga? According to transfer insider Ekrem Konur, the poker for the Brazilian attacker Kaio Jorge is entering the hot phase – and both the German record champions and the Werkself are said to be in the thick of it. But the competition is fierce, the price is high and the timing could be crucial

Kaio Jorge’s name has been on international scouting lists for months – now the poker for the 23-year-old seems to be intensifying. According to Konur, the hot phase has begun. In addition to FC Bayern and Bayer Leverkusen, West Ham United, Aston Villa, Zenit St. Petersburg and AC Milan are reportedly also interested in the attacking player.

This would not be the first time that the two Bundesliga clubs have been linked with Jorge. Brazilian media reported on the interest of Bayern and Werkself back in the summer. At the time, Munich are even said to have sent an employee to Belo Horizonte to gather more information about the striker; Leverkusen scouted him on site. However, no concrete offers have yet been made.

Price rises – Jorge attracts attention in Brazil

The potential price for Jorge is said to have been at least €25 million back in the summer. It could have risen significantly in the meantime. The reason: Jorge has made the leap into the Brazilian senior national team. He celebrated a 19-minute debut under national coach Carlo Ancelotti in the 3-0 win against Chile in the World Cup qualifiers in September. Although he did not get any further minutes in the subsequent training sessions in October and November, his nominations show how much his market value has risen recently.

His performances for Cruzeiro are even more impressive. After his return from Europe – Juventus had signed him in 2021, but he failed to make the breakthrough in Italy – he really exploded in Belo Horizonte. 33 goals and ten assists in 67 competitive matches are a strong record. This season, he even holds the title of top scorer in Série A: 21 goals in 33 matches underline his status as one of Brazil’s most dangerous attackers.

Bayern and Bayer consider options

Both FC Bayern and Bayer Leverkusen are keeping a close eye on the striker’s development. A player with Jorge’s profile – young, internationally experienced, robust, technically strong and with a high strike rate – fits the requirement profile of many top European clubs.

What is particularly interesting is that he already has European experience: he moved from Santos to Juventus in 2021 before returning to Cruzeiro for seven million euros in 2024.
