We asked ‘Matt Busby said to Joe Harvey’ to give us his match ratings and player comments after Newcastle 2 Espanyol 2.
A game with plenty of talking points.
Four goals shared and a penalty saved by Aaron Ramsdale.
Espanyol taking the lead on 17 minutes and getting their second with a minute of normal time remaining.
In between, Matt Targett and Jacob Murphy scoring the United goals.
Newcastle United player ratings:
Ramsdale – 8
Couldn’t do much with the goals he conceded, saved a penalty and showed that his footwork has improved since Arteta treated him so shabbily.
I fancy him to start at Villa next week.
Burn – 7
Steady as you go from the big man.
Schar – 7
Showed that he’s still got it.
Hall – 7
Played well. Great to see him back
Krafth – 7
Always dependable is our Emil. I thought he looked canny.
Miley – 8
One of our better performers. Great cross for our first goal. Looked composed.
Guimaraes – 7
Always a class act, is our captain fantastic.
His range of passing and intelligence when releasing the ball, still as good as ever.
Targett – 6
What can you say, villain turned hero, turned villain.
After making amends for that awful pass that led to Espanyol’s opener, he got us back on terms before conceding the penalty. Our worst singing alongside Osula since the takeover.
Murphy – 7
Took his goal well and looked industrious.
I’m hoping we’ll see more consistency from Jacob Murphy now he has some competition down that right flank.
Osula – 5
I’m sorry but I don’t see a Premier League player when I watch this lad.
Park – 7
Looks lively and full of energy. I can see some potential in him.
Subs:
Harrison – 6
Looked like the game passed him by a bit.
Neave – 5
Not long turned 18 and at this moment in time, no better option than Osula at the moment on this showing.
