‘Although we weren’t at our best today and poor finishing was looking like it was going to cost us the win, up steps Captain Fantastic to get us the 3 points!!

These players never give up and we got the well deserved win in the end.

Well done lads, 3 vital points to start our move up the table.

Bring on ‘our’ Cup on Wednesday and hopefully a good performance, especially in front of goal!’

‘At 1-1 it felt like another momentum breaker after the fantastic work on Tuesday.

We’ve snatched the win at the death though and can hopefully make it three consecutive St James’ Park wins and a place in the 5th round of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.’

‘In terms of huge wins on huge days in a huge week in a huge stadium, that was pretty huge.

It wasn’t so much in terms of winning, but how the players and fans would have felt, if we didn’t win.

Bruno is some leader isn’t he.

And Osula. If he keeps listening to Eddie he could be a world beater. I really believe that. He has everything: pace, power, strength, heading, shots off both feet. It’s just that he’s mental! But Eddie will get him sorted.

Identical record to this time last season and that wasn’t too shabby in the end was it?

Murphy should have wrapped it up before half time.

‘Watched the game with my Forest mate Haddock, who wouldn’t shut up about how good Elliot Anderson is. He feels sorry for Steve Bruce and is loving Steve Stone being back.

Three points and a home win after starting brightly, lost our way in the middle and paid the price.

Substitutions worked and rightly deserved the win, with Osula showing great determination to open up a solid Fulham defence.’

‘Late drama – and we needed it!

The European hangover was blown away thanks to Bruno and an excellent cameo from Will Osula. Phew.

I really felt we needed to win this one and we’ve eked it out amid a hard start to the season.

Plenty of chances went begging today and at times we didn’t get control of the game.

The league is the bread and butter and it looked like we’d have to settle for frustration after the Benfica romp.

A huge win.’

‘GET IN THERE! What a relief!

Screamed the house down when the winner went in!

Felt we were the better team in the first half but got nervous when Murphy missed the chance to make it 2-0.

At 1-1, the game was anyone’s, but the last twenty minutes was relentless Toon pressure.

Delighted for Osula who was instrumental in the winning goal. Onwards and upwards.’

‘Today’s performance was a far cry from Tuesday’s performance in the Champions League.

Newcastle huffed and puffed and put in a very sloppy performance against a spirited, but relatively toothless, Fulham team.

Ultimately, the quality Newcastle were able to inject from the bench made the difference and pressure applied by Will Osula forced the Fulham mistake that led to the winner.

An important 3 points but Newcastle will need to play better moving forward to maintain the momentum they are starting to build.’
