Newcastle have announced the signing of Ivory Coast international Bazoumana Toure.
Toure joins Newcastle in a £42 million deal from Bundesliga outfit TSG Hoffenheim, where he impressed last term.
The 20-year-old becomes the Tynesiders’ second signing this summer following goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen’s arrival from Guingamp.
Following Anthony Gordon’s move to Barcelona , the Magpies were left without a senior left winger.
Newcastle came close to signing Spanish forward Victor Munoz to replace him, but Liverpool hijacked the move. They subsequently turned their attention to Toure.
Toure was one of the standout left wingers in the Bundesliga last season. He scored five goals and provided 12 assists, helping Hoffenheim qualify for the UEFA Europa League.
Among wingers in Europe’s top seven leagues last season, he ranked higher than the 60th percentile for non-penalty goal involvements, successful dribbles, progressive carries, key passes and accurate crosses.
He made his senior international debut for the Ivory Coast in October 2025 and went on to represent them at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2026 World Cup.
Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool were also linked with Toure, but made no formal move, allowing Newcastle to complete his signing.
Newcastle manager Eddie Howe believes they have signed an ‘exciting talent’, who also has ‘a lot of potential to unlock’.
The Magpies are still expected to make further signings after Toure, particularly in midfield.
Sandro Tonali is on the verge of joining Tottenham Hotspur, while captain Bruno Guimaraes could also leave. Arsenal are showing strong interest in the Brazilian midfielder.
