Newcastle boss Jaissle maintains stance on star man despite Manchester United links | OneFootball

Matthias Jaissle has outlined his aim for Lewis Hall to remain at Newcastle United for the long term.

Hall was the subject of interest from Manchester United during the summer transfer window, although no formal bid was ever submitted for the left back.

When asked about Hall’s links to the Red Devils by former Man Utd goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel in August, Jaissle said there was “no chance” that such a move would happen.

However, Manchester United will likely maintain their interest in the player during the months ahead.

Jaissle made clear that he is integral to his plans in the north east, though.

”He’s a huge, huge potential player,” Jaissle said.

“He’s delivering already on a high level, but we all know that there’s much more to come.

“We’re really excited that he is a part of that team and hopefully also in the long term.”

Newcastle’s head coach was not oblivious to interest in Hall continuing, stating that he “for sure he will have also interest in winter, like also many other players, every window there will be interest for players of us”.

Jaissle made clear that Newcastle “count on” Hall, however.

Also staying on Tyneside will be Jacob Murphy and Joe Willock – both of whom were linked with moves away this summer.

Newcastle turned down bids from Nottingham Forest for Murphy, whilst Willock’s proposed move to Besiktas in Turkey was called off due in part to the strong start to the season he has made.

There had been reports that Jaissle was central to both decisions, to which he said: “The lads were doing good in the pre-season.

“They showed their quality, I think they still have potential to even do better, and therefore we made the decision that this is the final squad.”
