Newcastle United attacker Anthony Gordon has been linked with multiple clubs in recent weeks.
The 25-year-old has 22 goal contributions this season, and he has been quite impressive for the Premier League club. He has the quality to play for a bigger club in future, and the likes of Barcelona and Bayern Munich are interested in him.
According to Florian Plettenberg (h/t The Mag), the German champions have offered the England international a five-year contract, and it will be interesting to see whether they can convince the player to join the club.
The player’s agent has also met with Barcelona sporting director Deco. It remains to be seen what he decides.
The 25-year-old is at the peak of his career, and this could be the right time for him to move on and join a bigger club where he can fight for major trophies.
Newcastle are still in a period of transition, and they are likely to finish in the mid-table this season. It is unlikely that they will be able to challenge for major trophies next year. Gordon will not want to waste his peak years, and joining an elite club will be quite attractive for him.
Bayern Munich and Barcelona are both attractive destinations for the player, and it remains to be seen where he ends up. The 25-year-old can operate on the flanks as well as centrally. His versatility would be a huge bonus for both clubs.
Bayern Munich need more depth in the attacking unit, and Gordon could be the ideal cover for Harry Kane, Michael Olise and Luis Diaz. He can operate anywhere across the front three, and he would be a very useful acquisition for the club.
On the other hand, Barcelona will need more quality going forward. They will be hoping to win the UEFA Champions League and need a deeper squad. Signing the versatile Newcastle attacker could be a wise decision.
