Newcastle United have been charged with illegally approaching six Sunderland players by the FA.

The FA alleged that the Magpies failed to give their local rivals 'seven days written notice' ahead of recruiting a half dozen youth players.

Youngsters Isla Burdon-Watson, Isla Hepburn, Josie Dobson, Lily Williamson, Molly Frew, and Sofia Clark are the players said to have been 'poached' by Newcastle.

Neither club has yet to comment on the incident which was confirmed in September but not publicly revealed until this week.

It has been a difficult time for Newcastle recently with manager Becky Langley being dismissed while the club have just won one of their opening six games in the WSL 2.

The two sides are set to face each other next month with the Magpies having won both previous fixtures between the sides last season.
