An update has emerged on Newcastle United’s pursuit of Besiktas striker Cyle Larin…
According to Takvim, the Magpies are expected to meet with Besiktas to iron out a deal in January for the forward to arrive at St James’ Park to bolster Eddie Howe’s squad.
The report claims that he is out of contract at the end of the season and the Turkish club want to thrash out a move for him before he leaves for nothing.

Nick Hammond can get St James’ Park rocking by sealing a deal to sign the £26k-per-week dynamo. Goals win games and get the fans off their seats in excitement, and Larin is a player who has shown that he can score goals at a consistent rate.
In 93 games for Besiktas, he has scored 38 times and provided eight assists for the Turkish giants. This has come after he managed to find the back of the net 44 times in 89 matches for Orlando City in MLS.
He has 22 goals in 44 caps for Canada and is capable of playing anywhere across the front line, predominantly as a centre-forward but also featuring 44 times as a left winger.
His national team manager John Herdman once dubbed him “an absolute predator” and Brazilian icon Kaka also praised him by saying: “I think Cyle can go far. Cyle is a very good player and the third season for us will be great, but I think Cyle can play in a big team in Europe as well.”

Larin spent the 2019/20 campaign on loan to Belgian outfit Zulte Waregem and ended the season with an impressive nine goals and 13 assists. This shows that he has a creative side to his game which could also impress the Newcastle supporters, in addition to his goalscoring threat.
Therefore, he could be a signing to get St James’ Park rocking, as he holds the potential to be an exciting game-changer for the Magpies. Of course, it remains to be seen whether or not he will be able to adapt to playing in the Premier League, but it is a worthwhile gamble for the club given his impressive records in the MLS, Turkey and Belgium.
This is why Hammond must ensure that he can get a deal over the line for the Canadian marksman next month, as he could be a terrific addition to Howe’s squad.
