Newcastle fans asked win against Sunderland or through to Carabao Cup semis? Intriguing reaction | OneFootball

The question we were asking Newcastle United fans on Thursday – Would you choose Newcastle to win against Sunderland, or beat Fulham and through to Carabao Cup semis?

The two games are to be played in December, only three days apart.

Sunderland v Newcastle on Sunday 14 December in the Premier League.

Then Newcastle v Fulham on Wednesday 17 December in the Carabao Cup quarter-final.

United of course in a Carabao Cup quarter-final for a fourth season in a row under Eddie Howe.

Whilst could it be a third semi-final in four years, or even a third final in these four seasons. Or whisper it quietly, a second trophy in consecutive seasons.

First of all though, Newcastle United need to get past Fulham.

By the way, we made clear there were no draws allowed when answering this question.

So it was a question of which match you would choose Newcastle to win, with the other one lost.

So the selection was, either win against Sunderland and lose to Fulham, or lose to Sunderland and win against Fulham.

My thoughts

An impossible question, wasn’t it.

No surprise the voting so close.

A first derby in the league for almost a decade and the idea of losing to the mackems isn’t something any of us want to have in our heads.

However, that whole Carabao Cup run last season and then of course the final itself…United only needing to get through a two-legged semi-final to return to Wembley for a third season out of four, if winning against Fulham.
