Newcastle United and Everton are among the clubs eyeing VfB Stuttgart midfielder Bilal El Khannouss. Sky Germany reports that Newcastle have held talks with the 22-year-old’s representatives, although there have been no discussions between the clubs yet.

With the window nearing its close, El Khannouss could leave after only one year in Stuttgart. The Morocco international is understood to be open to a move.

Everton and two clubs from Saudi Arabia are also interested in the midfielder.

El Khannouss joined from Leicester City last summer on an initial loan, which was later made permanent for a reported €15 million fee.

He has nine goals and seven assists in 42 appearances for Stuttgart across all competitions.
