Newcastle 'part ways' with head coach Becky Langley

Newcastle United have 'parted ways' with women's head coach Becky Langley, who helped the club move from the fourth tier to the WSL 2.

"Everyone at Newcastle United thanks Becky sincerely for her service to the club and wishes her the very best in her future career," a statement from the club said.

"An interim coaching structure will be put in place while a successor is appointed."

The Magpies finished fifth in the second tier last season, finishing nine points behind league winners London City Lionesses.

This season has been a poor start for Newcastle, who have won just one of their opening six league games – although they did hold WSL side Manchester City to a 3-3 draw in the League Cup on Sunday, losing the eventual shoot-out.

Newcastle are next in action after the international break when they face Ipswich Town.
