Newcastle United chief scout Steve Nickson is in Brazil this week.

Nickson is making a personal check on Flamengo striker Gabriel Barbosa and Santos whizkid Angelo Gabriel.

Globoesporte says Nickson was in the stands to see long-term Toon target Gabigol grab the winner in Flamengo's 2-1 win over Santos at Vila Belmiro.

Angelo is available from Santos for around £17m.

Nickson is also eyeing Gabigol. The 25-year-old is keen to play in the Premier League and United see him as a potential back-up option for Callum Wilson.

Gabigol had a previous spell in Europe with Inter Milan.
