Newcastle and Southampton want to bring Albert Rusnak back to England.

Former Manchester City academy prospect Rusnak, who has been capped 34 times for Slovakia, is a free agent at the end of the month and the Daily Mail says both Premier League clubs are vying for his signature.

The 27-year-old would be a cheap option to help bolster Eddie Howe's midfield once the window opens next month and is friends with international teammate and Magpies goalkeeper Martin Dubravka.

Rusnak scored 11 goals in 35 games from midfield last season at Real Salt Lake; if he did make the move to Tyneside, he would follow in the footsteps of Miguel Almiron - who also signed from the MLS.
