Miguel Almirón’s proposed transfer to Charlotte FC has fallen through due to a wage dispute.
According to the Athletic, Newcastle United had come to a verbal agreement with MLS club, but the deal collapsed after the player and his agent demanded higher wages.

In response, Charlotte lowered their transfer offer to $9million (£7m), which the Magpies deemed too low.
The report also stated that Newcastle were only willing to sell the 30-year-old at the right price, and were not actively pushing for his departure.
With the MLS transfer window closing later today, it appears that any chance of a stateside return is gone for the Paraguayan international.
Almirón joined Newcastle from Atlanta United in 2019, and has since gone onto make 209 appearances for the Premier League club, scoring 30 times.
