With Arsenal reported to have an agreement to sign Bruno Guimarães from Newcastle, Victor Froholdt is again being linked with the Magpies.

According to Rudy Galetti, the FC Porto midfielder is the English club’s priority target if the Brazilian does move to London.

Froholdt, 20, has a €85 million release clause, and Porto are not expected to consider bids that fall far short of that figure.

The connection with Newcastle is not new, but it has resurfaced amid the latest developments around Guimarães.

In his first season in blue and white, Froholdt was named best player and best young player in last season’s I Liga, making 51 appearances and recording eight goals and seven assists.
