Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest have agreed a transfer fee for Anthony Elanga, while Sean Longstaff looks set to join Leeds United.
The Magpies have finally succeeded in landing the right winger after seeing their opening bid of £45 million rejected without counter in June.
Newcastle returned with an offer worth up to £55m, which Forest have accepted and Elanga will now sign a five-year contract at St. James’ Park.
The Athletic report that the deal consists of an initial fee of £52m, plus bonuses that are “considered difficult to reach”. The player will undergo a medical “in the next 48 hours”.
Manchester United, who sold Elanga to Forest for just £15m in 2023, are due to receive a “significant sell-on fee” from the transfer.
Sky Sports News report that the “finer points” of the deal need to be sorted. Elanga is said to be “excited” about the prospect of Champions League football next season.
The Sweden international was a key player for Forest last term, registering six goals and 11 assists in 38 Premier League appearances, helping the Tricky Trees qualify for the UEFA Conference League.
Meanwhile, The Athletic also report that Leeds are “pushing” to sign Sean Longstaff from Newcastle. They have submitted an offer worth £10m plus £2m for the midfielder.
The Yorkshire outfit have already agreed personal terms with the player, whose contract runs out in 2026. Longstaff is said to want his boyhood club to receive compensation for him rather than lose him for nothing next summer.
Fabrizio Romano adds that Leeds are “closing in” on the signing, with “talks well underway”.
Longstaff, a North Shields native, came through Newcastle’s academy as a youngster before breaking into the first team during the 2018/19 campaign. He has since gone on to make 214 appearances in all competitions, scoring 16 goals.
