Newcastle United announce Ousmane Diabaté signing | OneFootball

Newcastle United have announced the signing of teenage Guinea international Ousmane Diabaté.

The Magpies are believed to be paying a £3 million fee to Turkish top tier side Gençlerbirligi for the midfielder who will remain with the club on loan until the end of the current season.

"From the moment Newcastle showed interest, I knew it was the kind of ambitious club I wanted to be part of," the 18-year-old said on his move.

"The project here is exciting, and the supporters have an incredible reputation. Feeling that energy behind me is something I’m really looking forward to.

"I always tried to approach every match with total commitment, working hard, giving everything, and pushing myself to improve.

"My aim is to grow as a player and show people what I can bring to the team. I want to help Newcastle compete at the highest level and achieving things that make the club and supporters proud."

Diabaté made seven appearances for Gençlerbirligi last season which was enough for him to earn his first Guinea cap when he came on as a substitute in his team's 1-0 defeat away to North Ireland back in June.
