In a recent report, The Daily Mail claimed that Newcastle United are eyeing a move for Brentford striker Yoane Wissa. It has been mentioned that the Magpies are keeping a keen eye on the Congolese talent this summer.

Wissa’s Impressive Run Of Form In The Premier League

Wissa enjoyed a decent campaign at the English club after he put in a string of impressive displays for them on the offensive end of the field. The Congolese attacker was involved in 39 matches for Brentford last season, netting 20 goals and earning five assists across various competitions.

The 28-year-old deserves a ton of credit for averaging 2.77 shots per 90 minutes in Premier League football. He kept 45.6% of his attempts on target. Wissa was even tidy when distributing possession in the final third, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 76.5% in the English top tier (stats via fbref.com).

Wissa’s current contract at Brentford will expire in the summer of 2026 which could open the door for the Magpies to sign him on the cheap this off-season.

Should Newcastle United Boss Eddie Howe Snap Wissa Up?

Wissa is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make some dangerous runs with the ball out in the wide areas. He has got the vision to engineer a few inviting chances for his teammates to find the back of the net.

The Congolese talent can strike the ball with venom from long range and can contribute by scoring his fair share of goals in the final third. He mainly operates as a centre-forward but can also fill in as a winger if needed.

Wissa would add more firepower to Newcastle United head coach Eddie Howe’s attack. He could even go on to form a productive partnership with Alexander Isak at the Tyneside club in the coming years.

At 28, Wissa is about to enter his prime which makes him a good option for the Magpies to consider in this summer transfer window. He has got enough Premier League experience under his belt and won’t take much time to settle into life at St. James’ Park. All in all, it makes sense for the Magpies to go all out to snap Wissa up this summer.
