In a recent report, Frankfurter Rundschau stated that Newcastle United are still trying to land Eintracht Frankfurt talent Jesper Lindstrøm this summer. It is understood that the Magpies are still in the mix to acquire the services of the Danish playmaker in this ongoing transfer window.

Lindstrom’s Impressive Numbers In German Football Last Season

Lindstrom experienced an impressive season at the German club after he put in some fruitful displays for them in the final third. The Taastrup-born attacker participated in 38 matches for Frankfurt in the previous campaign, finding the back of the net nine times and securing four assists across various competitions.

The Danish sensation was a decent contributor in the final third as he averaged 1.7 shots, 0.7 key passes and 1.0 dribbles per 90 minutes in Bundesliga football. However, he was a bit untidy when interchanging possession with his teammates, based on his pass completion rate of 67.9% in the German top-flight (stats via whoscored).

Lindstrom’s current contract at Eintracht Frankfurt will expire in the summer of 2026. Therefore, the Magpies have to make a sizable offer if they want to recruit him in this off-season.

Should Newcastle United Boss Eddie Howe Snap Lindstrom Up This Summer?

Lindstrom can engineer a yard of space for himself to get a few strikes in at goal. He can chip in by scoring and creating his fair share of goals in the final third. The Danish talent is a decent dribbler with the ball as well. He mainly functions as an attacking midfielder but can also fill in as a centre-forward or play as a left-sided wide player if needed.

However, there are some serious concerns over whether Lindstrom would be able to cope with the physicality and high intensity of Premier League football if Newcastle manage to land him this summer.

Lindstrom would enhance the quality of Eddie Howe’s frontline and has what it takes to serve as an important member of the Tyneside club‘s squad next season.

At 23, Lindstrom will only get better with each campaign. He might help the Magpies compete across all fronts in the coming years. Hence, it makes sense for Howe to snap the Danish attacker up before the end of this transfer period.
