Bayern Munich have offered Newcastle United attacker Anthony Gordon a five-year contract, according to journalist Florian Plettenberg.
The Bundesliga club want to lure the Newcastle star away from St James Park this summer, in what would be a big blow for manager Eddie Howe.
Concrete talks have already taken place between Bayern and Gordon’s camp, but an agreement with the Magpies could prove tricky as club-to-club talks have yet to take place.
Newcastle are set to miss out on Champions League football next season, and Gordon wants to join a club where he can compete for major silverware regularly.
A move to Germany could appeal to the 25-year-old, and the Magpies may need to sell him this summer to balance the books.
The England international has not told Newcastle that he wants to leave, but the feeling inside St James’ Park is that he will seek a move this summer.
The asking price for him is likely to exceed £80 million, and it is unclear whether Bayern are willing to meet it.
Barcelona also admire Gordon, but they do not have the finances to complete a deal.
Bayern have other targets in the position, but the Newcastle star will not be short of suitors even if they look elsewhere.
Arsenal have been monitoring Gordon for a while, and Liverpool could also come calling after Mohamed Salah leaves in the summer.
Alan Shearer has called on Newcastle to sell him this summer if he is not committed to the club, and it appears an exit could be on the cards.
