The current Newcastle United contracts position.

Interesting to take a look now, after news that Nick Pope has had his deal extended to 30 June 2027.

It had been due to end on 30 June 2026 but an extra year triggered.

Not sure exactly how much, if anything, he has had to do with the extended Pope deal, but that represents the first Newcastle United contracts movement since Ross Wilson was announced.

The club finally with a Newcastle United Sporting Director in place.

Last Saturday (11 October 2025) seeing official confirmation that United and Nottingham Forest had reached agreement for Ross Wilson to make the move to St James’ Park.

How the Newcastle United contracts situation currently looks (via official club releases and media reports), when current deals are up:

End of June 2026:

Schar, Targett, Ashby, Trippier, Krafth, Lascelles, Ramsdale

End of June 2027:

Pope, Botman, Burn, Jacob Murphy, Willock

End of June 2028:

Tonali, Barnes, Livramento, Bruno, Miley, Joelinton, Alex Murphy

End of June 2029:

Hall, Gordon, Wissa, Thiaw

End of June 2030:

Elanga

End of June 2031:

Woltemade

So what will be the Ross Wilson (and Eddie Howe…) priorities when it comes to Newcastle United contracts now that Nick Pope has been sorted?

Of those seeing their current deals end in June 2026 and priorities, I would have thought Fabian Schar will be more than happy to sign up again, if offered another year to take him to end of June 2027. Almost certainly Kieran Trippier would do the same in my opinion.

You also have the Aaron Ramsdale situation. My gut feeling is that his one year loan almost certainly will turn into a permanent move next summer, whether that is due to some transfer fee already agreed as part of the loan arrangement, or to be sorted at some point in the coming months.

Looking at those players who see their contracts end at later dates, you would imagine that agreeing new deals with Sven Botman and Sandro Tonali will be high on the priority list for Ross Wilson.
