Newcastle United fans issued ‘Do not travel’ notice after horrific Huntingdon train incident

After the horrific Huntingdon incident, LNER have issued a ‘Do not travel’ message to Newcastle United fans travelling to West Ham, alongside of course any other train passengers hoping to use East Coast rail services.
The LNER statement is below, giving the advice,
That latest update issued at 2.30am this Sunday morning.
LNER stating that service may be ‘cancelled, revised or delayed.’
It appears that the advice is not to travel if at all possible, but if you do, to keep checking what the situation is.
Good luck to all Newcastle United fans travelling to the match today, safe travels to all.
Our thoughts of course are with all of the people impacted by what happened on Saturday night, especially those taken to hospital.
Huntingdon Incident – Saturday 1 November – Further update at 2.30am
Customers are asked not to travel today, Sunday 2 November and tickets will be valid up to and including Tuesday 4 November.
Disruption is expected until the end of the day.
We are concerned for everyone affected by the incident that occurred on the 1825 service from Doncaster to London King’s Cross on Saturday evening (1 November.)
David Horne, Managing Director of LNER, said “We are deeply shocked and saddened by this serious incident, and our thoughts are very much with everyone involved.
“I would like to thank the emergency services for their quick and professional response and the care they have provided to those injured. Anyone with information who hasn’t already spoken to police is urged to contact British Transport Police.
“The safety and wellbeing of everyone affected will remain our priority. We will continue to do everything we can to support our customers and colleagues during this difficult time.”
