Newcastle United fans are being supplied with free alcohol by the club, to help and ensure the atmosphere for the Newcastle v Chelsea match is up to the level needed.

A shocking kick-off time of 12 noon on a Sunday is ridiculous.

However Newcastle United doing their bit by offering the free alcohol.

If you get through the turnstiles before 11am you can then claim a free pint.

Newcastle United official announcement ahead of Newcastle v Chelsea:

‘Newcastle United fans attending the Premier League clash against Chelsea on Sunday are being offered a free drink at St. James’ Park.

The gesture has been organised by the club to thank fans for their support – which has seen St. James’ Park sell out throughout the season – while ensuring that the crowd is in full voice for the early kick-off as the Magpies battle for UEFA Champions League qualification.

Fans should claim their complimentary drinks token when passing through the turnstiles between 10am-11am on Sunday, with the voucher remaining valid until 11:30am.

Tokens can then be redeemed for a free pint/bottle of beer or cider, or a bottled soft drink – available across the concourse, Platinum Club and Bar 1892.

Newcastle United’s CEO, Darren Eales, commented: “We greatly appreciate the lengths that fans have gone to this season, travelling to every corner of the country to back the club, so we’re pleased to offer a token of appreciation for their loyalty and support this weekend.

“Alongside toasting the incredible support they have already shown, the offer of a free drink aims to ensure that everyone is in position for the early kick-off on Sunday, bringing that iconic St. James’ Park atmosphere from the warm-ups to the final whistle.”
