An official NUFC announcement (see below) on Wednesday night, which has revealed the interim appointment to take charge of Newcastle United Women.

This follows the sacking of Becky Langley on Monday.

Newcastle United revealing that assistant manager Claire Ditchburn will take interim charge.

Former Newcastle United (men’s team) defender Peter Ramage will be assisting Claire Ditchburn for the time being.

With heavy investment by the club’s owners in the Newcastle United Women’s team set-up and a golden chance of promotion this season, with up to three of the twelve second tier women’s teams getting promotion this season up to an expanded Super League. No surprise that Becky Langley found herself sacked after winning only one of the first six league matches this season.

Newcastle United official announcement – 22 October 2025:

‘Newcastle United Women can confirm that assistant manager Claire Ditchburn will lead the team on an interim basis.

She will be assisted by former Magpies defender, and current Assistant Loan Player Manager, Peter Ramage.

Goalkeeper coach, Stephen Brass, and first team coach, Luke Thomas-Arayo, will continue in their respective roles.
