Eddie Howe and his players kicking off at 2pm in their Sunday match away at West Ham.

This weekend there are seven Premier League fixtures today (Saturday 1 November), then two on Sunday (including NUFC’s) and finally one on Monday night.

As a Newcastle United fan, have a look at this weekend’s other Premier League fixtures and have a think about what you’d like to happen and what is likely in terms of results.

Saturday 1 November

Brighton v Leeds (3pm)

Burnley v Arsenal (3pm)

Palace v Brentford (3pm)

Fulham v Wolves (3pm)

Forest v Man U (3pm)

Spurs v Chelsea (5.30pm)

Liverpool v Villa (8pm)

Sunday 2 November

West Ham v Newcastle (2pm)

Man City v Bournemouth (4.30pm)

Monday 3 November

Sunderland v Everton (8pm)

This is how the table looks on Saturday morning (1 November 2025) before any of the ten Premier League fixtures this weekend are played:

My Conclusions

Saturday 1 November

Brighton v Leeds (3pm)

Brighton have been a bit inconsistent this season but at home in the league they have two wins and two draws. It would have been four home wins if not for conceding in the 97th minute against Fulham and throwing away a two goal lead against Spurs.

Leeds won at bottom of the table Wolves but their other three PL away matches have seen three defeats and eight goals conceded, with losses at Arsenal, Fulham and Burnley.

I would be very surprised if Brighton don’t win by at least a couple of goals.

Burnley v Arsenal (3pm)

Burnley are having a decent go and already have 10 points from nine PL games by the end of October, their last Premier League campaign two years ago (2023/24) saw them get to March 2024 and 27 matches gone, with only 13 points.

They have just won their last two matches and have only lost one game at home, which was a 1-0 to Liverpool when the referee sent off a Burnley player and then in added time gave the Scousers a penalty.

Arsenal have kept clean sheets in six of their seven wins and have been quite functional a lot of the time, doing just enough to win, as summed up by their last two games, both 1-0 wins away at Fulham and home to Palace.

Everybody will be predicting an away win here but I think if Burnley can find a goal from somewhere they could hopefully grab a draw.

Palace v Brentford (3pm)

The last five weeks have seen Palace win 3-0 at Anfield and beat Liverpool 2-1 at home when it could/should have been four or five goals for Palace. In their other five matches during this period of time, Palace have only defeated Dynamo Kiev and have lost to the likes of Larnaca at home and Everton away.

Brentford haven’t collapsed after losing manager and some star players, as widely predicted. Indeed, new manager Keith Andrews is doing a great job and the Bees have won four of their last five games and scored 13 goals, their last PL match a 3-2 win over Liverpool when the winning margin should have been greater.

Any result possible here. Palace proving a bit unpredictable but still dangerous, the number of matches maybe affecting them. With Brentford in such good form I think they are a good bet to get something today, maybe all three points.

Fulham v Wolves (3pm)

Marco Silva finding himself under pressure having lost his last four Premier League matches and very lucky to win in midweek against Wycombe on penalties.

Wolves have made a terrible start to the season but three of their last four PL games have seen them throw late points away. Leading against both Spurs and Brighton but conceding late equalisers, whilst their most recent PL game saw them two down to Burnley, come back to 2-2, only to concede in the 95th minute.

Wolves lost 4-3 to Chelsea in midweek in the League Cup and if they can find a way to stop leaking so many goals, they may still have a chance of turning their season around.

You would think Fulham should win this, but in a game where there looks sure to be goals, maybe this could just possibly be the one when Wolves edge it their way.

Forest v Man U (3pm)

Forest have picked up only one point in their last seven PL matches, whilst Man U have won their last three and scored eight goals in them. So, surely only one winner?

Well, Forest in their last home PL match battered Chelsea in the first half and should have been two or three up, only to fail to score and lose 3-0, Postecoglou then immediately sacked.

Dyche then came in and in Forest’s most recent home game, defeated Porto 2-0 in the Europa League.

If Forest are to get their season belatedly started, then you have to think they need to start making the City Ground a real positive. I think Man U have been less than convincing despite recent wins, carrying a lot of luck. You can’t imagine Dyche making Forest good to watch but they still have pretty much the same players who did so well last season. I think  low scoring draw or a Forest win today.

Spurs v Chelsea (5.30pm)

Like Man U, another two ridiculously over-hyped teams, whenever they string a few results together.

In their last four games, Spurs have lost at home to Villa and away at Newcastle, very lucky as well to get a goalless draw away to Monaco. They won 3-0 at Everton thanks to set-pieces and Pickford’s goalkeeping.

Chelsea lost at home to the Mackems last weekend and then edged that League Cup 4-3 against bottom of the league Wolves.

Another match where all results are possible but I have a feeling that if Spurs can score first, it should enable them to win this one.

Liverpool v Villa (8pm)

Losing all of their last four Premier League matches and six of their last seven games in all competitions, it is simply hilarious what is happening at Liverpool. They have conceded 14 goals in these last seven matches, including nine in their last four PL ones.

Villa have kind of done the opposite to Liverpool, Emery’s team winning none of their first five PL matches and then victorious in all of their last four. Indeed, Villa have won six of their last seven games in all competitions, though bizarrely managing to lose that one against Go Ahead Eagles, to prevent a perfect seven in a row.

What a match up then, a team that has lost six of their last seven, up against one that has won six of their last seven.

This will become even more hilarious if that becomes a stat of seven defeats in eight for Liverpool and seven wins in eight for Villa.

Reality is that Liverpool and Slot were ridiculously lucky in so many early season matches and rarely did they deserve to win, whilst Villa were facing a difficult start to the season due to various factors.

I will certainly be having a bet on Villa tonight and will be cheering them on as they take all three points. Liverpool then have Real Madrid in midweek before Man City away in the Premier League. An interesting week or so lies ahead for Arne Slot and Liverpool and just how glorious will it be if/when things go from bad to worse?

Sunday 2 November

West Ham v Newcastle (2pm)

The only game that really matters of course.

Newcastle United now starting to add goals with 19 in the last eight matches in all competitions, compared to only four in the opening six matches.

Up against a West Ham side who have lost all four home PL games this season and conceded 12, whilst scoring only one.

A great chance for NUFC to make it six wins from their last seven matches and I think Eddie Howe’s team will do so.

Man City v Bournemouth (4.30pm)

Man City are nowhere near what they once were and so massively reliant on Haaland getting the goals.

They are not bad, just a case of not anything special, despite the massive resources that have gone into their squad.

The last eight Premier League matches have seen them draw one and lose three of them, the last of those a 1-0 at Villa last weekend.

Iraola is proving a class act and with clever recruitment, Bournemouth find themselves second in the table and haven’t lost in the league since their first match, when Liverpool fluked a late win at Anfield.

I think Bournemouth will very likely get a draw but wouldn’t be surprised if they get a win.

Sunderland v Everton (8pm)

It’s the big derby match, The Mackems v The Scouse Mackems, with Jordon Pickford centre stage.

The Mackems have won three and drawn one away, whilst the Scouse ones have won one away and lost the other three.

However, on this ’emotional’ night in the Pickford Mackem derby, I am predicting a goalless draw and any neutral tuning in on Sky Sports, living to regret it.
