Newcastle United are set to offer Tino Livramento a new lucrative contract amid strong interest from Manchester City, according to the Times.

The 22-year-old, who joined Newcastle from Southampton in August 2023 on a five-year deal, has quickly become an integral figure, displacing Kieran Trippier as first-choice right back.

Following Lewis Hall’s injury earlier this year, Livramento also filled in impeccably at left-back when needed, most notably in the League Cup final against Liverpool.

Despite his current contract running until June 2028, the Magpies are keen to tie Livramento down to a new deal as they prepare to return to the Champions League courtesy of a fifth-place finish last season.

Newcastle intend to propose a new six-year contract that would significantly boost Livramento’s wages, positioning him among the club’s highest earners.

This is to demonstrate their commitment to the player and discourage any bids, particularly from Man City.

After parting ways with Kyle Walker, City are keen to sign Livramento. They are reportedly prepared to pay £65m, but Newcastle’s £80m price tag has dissuaded them from submitting a formal offer.

While Newcastle’s priority remains keeping hold of Livramento, the club is simultaneously exploring contingency plans by targeting Juventus’ Nicolo Savona.

Still on holiday due to his involvement with England at the European Under-21 Championships, Livramento missed Newcastle’s first pre-season game against Celtic on Saturday.

Off the back of a 4-0 defeat last time out, Eddie Howe’s side will be keen to bounce back in their second friendly against Arsenal on Sunday.
