The Magpies announced the news via a post on their official club website this afternoon.
Cooper joins Newcastle United after spending the last four seasons with Reading. She left the Berkshire club this summer upon the expiry of her contract.
The 31-year-old centre-back previously represented Chelsea over four seasons between 2017 and 2020. Cooper was with The Blues during two of their Barclays Women’s Super League title successes. She was also a member of a Chelsea team which won an FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup.
Cooper knows exactly what is required to be successful in the professional game and her experience will be huge for new club Newcastle United.
After joining The Magpies, Cooper said “I’m delighted to sign for Newcastle United Women. The ambition of the club is something I’ve admired for a while and speaking with Becky Langley only confirmed this as a place I want to be.
“The support and professionalism behind the women’s team is incredible and I can’t wait to work with the players and staff alike.”
Cooper becomes Newcastle United’s third signing of the summer transfer window following the additions of Shania Hayles and Amy Andrews.
