Newcastle United have tabled an offer for Tottenham Hotspur star Archie Gray, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Manager Eddie Howe wants quality additions, and the versatile 20-year-old would be a shrewd signing.
However, Tottenham have insisted that Gray is not for sale. They are keen to strengthen their squad rather than lose key players.
It is unclear whether Newcastle will return with an improved bid, but Spurs are unlikely to be open to doing a deal.
They want Magpies midfielder Sandro Tonali, but the £100 million asking price is problematic.
Newcastle may want to include Gray in a player-plus-cash deal, although they are reportedly keen to keep Tonali.
The Englishman made 35 appearances for Tottenham last term, weighing in with two goals and three assists.
Gray joined Tottenham from Leeds United in 2024 and has since made 81 appearances. He featured in 52 games as a first-team player in his only season as a professional at Leeds.
He is one of the most talented youngsters in the Premier League, and it is clear to see why Newcastle want him and why Spurs want to hold on to him.
