It has now been reported that Newcastle United have turned their attention to Sven Botman, when it comes to getting an extended and enhanced contract agreed.
With the defender’s representatives set for talks this week with the club.
Having recently been installed as the new Newcastle United Sporting Director, Ross Wilson will be the person now overseeing new deals with existing players, as well as the recruitment of new signings.
This exclusive on Sven Botman contract talks comes from Krrish FT, who has a decent record when it comes to info on what is happening with players and clubs.
He reports that his information is that Newcastle United are offering an extension of three years on his current deal, so instead of 30 June 2027, the proposed new contract would take the defender up to 30 June 203o, beyond his 30th birthday.
We all know what a class act Sven Botman is and it was just a case of him getting back to full fitness and staying there.
His performances this season have been back to what we witnessed before his horrendous injury issues started. Botman of course was part of the defence (With Pope, Trippier, Schar and Burn) that had the joint lowest number of goals conceded in 2022/23 with Man City, as United finished fourth top and qualified for the Champions League.
With confirmation that Nick Pope had seen his contract extended by an extra year (to end of June 2027) and that Sandro Tonali is contracted effectively to end of June 2030 (his contract is until end of June 2029 but has an extra year that the club can choose to trigger), as you can see below, the Newcastle United contracts situation is in a very healthy state.
This new exclusive on Sven Botman adds that the planned Newcastle United talks and contract extension are happening to a backdrop of Liverpool and a number of other clubs showing interest in the classy defender, now he is back fully fit and playing so well.
The report detailing that United are confident they will reach agreement on an enhanced and extended deal, that will see Sven Botman remain at the club for years to come.
Botman was of course forced off on Saturday with a head injury but after the game, Eddie Howe stated that it wasn’t a concussion situation that would see the Dutch defender miss a number of games, with Sven Botman set to be available for Spurs in the cup on Wednesday.
So this is how the updated Newcastle United contracts situation currently looks (via official club releases and media reports), when current deals are up:
End of June 2026:
Schar, Targett, Ashby, Trippier, Krafth, Lascelles, Ramsdale
End of June 2027:
Pope, Botman, Burn, Jacob Murphy, Willock
End of June 2028:
End of June 2029:
