The Toon teenagers led inside 14 minutes at the Magpies' Little Benton Academy courtesy of Matthew Taylor's strike before Burnley were reduced to ten men before the half-hour following Diandro Fletchman's red card.

Despite their numerical advantage, Newcastle found themselves level five minutes after the restart after Warren Taylor converted from the penalty spot.

The hosts, however, regained their lead in the 66th minute as 16-year-old winger Alfie Seldon netted his sixth league goal of the season at under-18 level.

Chris Moore's side return to league action on Saturday 18 April when facing an away clash against Derby County at the Rams' Football Academy [kick-off 1pm BST].
