Newcastle were second best too often against Leeds and allowed the game to be played on someone else’s terms. Expect a harder press and a demand for quicker regains.

Jakirovic is more pragmatic and Hull’s 5-4-1 has given them a clear identity. They sit deep, protect central areas and break with speed. It is simple, but good simple is hard to beat. Newcastle will need patience. If they start forcing passes or throwing bodies forward too early, Hull will get the transitions they want.
