This was waved away, yet Newcastle remained undeterred as Woltemade scored on his debut with a fine header in the 29th minute. Wolves just couldn't get out of their third, and Murphy's ball was perfect for the 6 ft 6 German. While considerable half-chances nearly added to the score in the first 45, action in the second half was limited to yellow cards and a scrappy midfield battle. Regardless of this, and underperforming their 1.50 xG, Newcastle can now prepare to host Barcelona on Thursday night in the Champions League.
