Newcastle United’s teenage defender Daisy Burt has joined FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division club Derby County on loan for the 2024/2025 season.

The Magpies announced news of the deal via a post on their official club website yesterday.

The 18-year-old defender joined Newcastle United from neighbours Sunderland in summer 2022 and she has gone on to help the Tynesiders win back-to-back promotions. Burt made five appearances for Becky Langley’s side in last season’s FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division as they romped to the league title.

Burt is very much one for the future at Newcastle United. Given the high level of competition in the squad this season, the club cannot guarantee her regular minutes in the Barclays Women’s Championship. It has therefore been agreed to allow the player to continue her development back in the third tier with Derby County this season.

The defender joins a Derby County side that have plenty of ambition going into the new season. The Ewe Rams finished last season in seventh position, however, the club have long-term hopes of reaching the Barclays Women’s Championship.

Burt could be in-line to make her Derby County debut in their FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division season opener at Sporting Khalsa tomorrow afternoon.
