Lazio wrapped up their summer tour with a slim win over Cadiz at the Stadio Nuevo Mirandilla in Spain.
Marco Baroni unleashed a 4-3-3 formation spearheaded as usual by Taty Castellanos, with Gustav Isaksen and club captain Mattia Zaccagni on the wings. The Italians started on a slow note with the Spanish second-division club getting the bulk of the chances in the first period, albeit they failed to genuinely trouble Ivan Provedel.
On the contrary, Lazio were only able to forge a single legitimate goal-scoring opportunity throughout the first period. Gaetano Castrovilli picked up Isaksen’s run towards the box, but the Swede’s shot was too weak to beat David Gil in goal.
After the break, Baroni’s changes made the difference, as Lazio became significantly more fluid. The club’s summer signings Tijjani Noslin, Loum Tchaouna and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru were the most impactful introductions.
In the 71st minute, Tchaouna picked up Noslin on the near post from a short corner kick. The Dutchman’s clinical header bounced in off the post and put the Biancocelesti in the lead. After the match, Lazio were presented with the gigantic Trofeo Carranze, which required Zaccagni, Danilo Cataldi, Adam Marusic, and Patric to lift it.
Lazio (4-3-3): Provedel; Lazzari (45′ Pellegrini), Patric, Romagnoli (63′ Gila), Marusic (63′ Hysaj); Guendouzi, Vecino (63′ Cataldi), Castrovilli (45′ Dele Bashiru); Isaksen (45′ Noslin), Castellanos, Zaccagni (63′ Tchaouna).
