Bayern Munich said on Tuesday that Dante has been appointed coach of their U23s, the move coming days after the 42-year-old ended his playing career.

He signed off by helping OGC Nice secure Ligue 1 status in Friday's play-off second leg against Saint-Étienne, a 4-1 win. The Brazilian retires with 754 professional appearances.

Dante previously spent three seasons at Bayern from 2012 to 2015, winning three Bundesliga titles and the 2013 Champions League.

He also played 10 years for Nice between 2016 and 2026. He departs with gratitude and the sense that his story there is not finished.

A farewell event in his honour is planned for 18 June.
