No negative Friday the 13th vibes here, as we’ve got some GOOD news to drop concerning Liverpool. Straight from inside Anfield, we can report that RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande is officially on the target list for the Reds.

A Swiftly Rising Star

The 19 year old Ivorian has had an unusual path to arrive at this point. His family moved to Florida when he was young. He first attracted attention playing for the Yulee Hornets, a public high school boys team, which precipitated a move to the prestigious DME Academy. There, he earned minutes with AS Frenzi, a UPSL team from Orlando, and was on the squad that lifted the Spring 2023 national title.

Diomande signed a deal with La Liga side Leganés in late 2024. In his 524 minutes over ten games he scored twice and earned an assist. But that was enough to whet RB Leipzig’s appetite for the attacker, who snapped him up for around $24M in July of last year.

That proved to be clever business. In 23 matches across all competitions Diomande has 8g/6a, shockingly good output for such a young player. He made his national debut for Côte d’Ivoire in October 2025, and scored against Burkina Faso in their African Cup of Nations run.

As a result, his value has skyrocketed, which can be seen in the graph to the right.

What We Know

LFC supporters will be happy to hear that the young forward is eager to join the Reds, and the top brass appear equally enthusiastic. Talks have already commenced between the clubs for a summer move.

Diomande will not come cheap, with some reports stating that the German club will ask over $100M for a move. Leipzig have the young man on contract through June 2030. But long-term investment in such a talent could prove shrewd planning for Liverpool, particularly as Mohamed Salah is likely to move on after the World Cup.
