FC Bayern are continuing to work intensively on their squad planning for the future. While the Munich club are already pursuing several concrete targets on the transfer market, a promising defensive talent from Italy is also said to be on their watch list. Honest Ahanor from Atalanta Bergamo has been linked with the German record champions
In their squad planning, FC Bayern are not only looking for immediate reinforcements, but also regularly keep an eye on the biggest talents in Europe. One name that has recently been on the radar is Honest Ahanor
As reported by Sky, Munich have been following the development of the 18-year-old central defender for some time, with the youngster from Atalanta Bergamo being regarded internally as an extremely exciting defensive talent
Ahanor has made a remarkable rise in recent years. The defender was trained in the youth department of CFC Genoa, where he made the leap into the professional ranks. He finally moved to Atalanta Bergamo in the summer of 2025
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Italian first division club invested around 15 million euros plus a further five million euros in potential bonus payments to secure the services of the talented player. Ahanor signed a long-term contract in Bergamo until 2028
In his first season at Atalanta, the central defender quickly developed into a permanent fixture. The Italy international played a total of 28 competitive matches and scored one goal
Ahanor was particularly eye-catching on the international stage, appearing in the Champions League against FC Bayern and Borussia Dortmund, among others, where he clearly made a lasting impression
These performances in particular are said to have contributed to the fact that several top European clubs are now keeping a close eye on the defender
The interest comes as no surprise to FC Bayern, who are currently looking at various scenarios for their defence. Although they already have several central defenders in their squad in Min-jae Kim, Dayot Upamecano, Josip Stanisic and Hiroki Ito, there could still be personnel changes in the summer

However, a potential transfer is likely to be anything but easy. According to the Spanish newspaper AS, Real Madrid are also looking closely at the defender and transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio recently confirmed the interest of the Whites
The fact that both Bayern and Real Madrid are keeping an eye on the young Italian underlines the enormous potential that experts believe he has
Atalanta themselves would like to keep their defender if possible. Internally, Ahanor is considered an important part of their long-term plans and should fit in perfectly with coach Raffaele Palladino’s style of play
Nevertheless, those responsible in Bergamo are aware of the dynamics of the international transfer market and although a sale does not appear to be planned, a move has not been completely ruled out
According to sport.de, Atalanta are currently looking at a transfer fee of between 40 and 50 million euros, and the total package could even rise to around 60 million euros including possible bonus payments
Such an investment would certainly be conceivable for FC Bayern, but only if those responsible are fully convinced of the youngster’s qualities. At the moment, Ahanor is apparently mainly in observation mode. However, if his development continues at such a rapid pace, Munich’s interest could well turn into a concrete transfer project in the coming months.
