Michael Nicholson wrote in his Celtic Financial Results statement that the club would give Martin O’Neill their all backing despite the three back-to-back defeats suffered ahead of this long international break. There’s been next to no other communication from the club, other that last night’s rant presumably by the largest shareholder, so we’ll have to wait to see if Martin O’Neill will be the Celtic manager when club football returns.

One name that has been getting mentioned, after his appearance at the recent Glasgow Derby at Celtic Park and some quotes that have gained some traction from Martin O’Neill’s assistant when the paid we in charge of the Republic of Ireland national side.
The former Manchester United skipper may well have som support ad the Celtic fanbase but one prominent commentator reckons that Roy Keane is not the right man for the Celtic job when a vacancy emerges.
Roy Keane is not the right solution for Celtic according to former Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, who was speaking exclusively to Football Insiders inside track podcast. He believes that the former midfielder should be “discounted” as an option by the Hoops.

Wyness – who served as CEO at Pittodrie between 2000 and 2004 and now runs a consultancy business advising elite clubs – believes that Celtic need a boss who will transform their summer business.
The Scottish businessman views Keane as a big experienced name who knows how to motivate a side, but he does not believe that would help Celtic right now.
“It was 2011 when I checked that the last time he was a manager. That’s a long time ago, 15 years, I’m afraid,” he said.
“I don’t think Roy Keane is the right solution for Celtic right now. They’re looking for somebody to really get behind the scenes and make that machine that gets that recruitment right and then sells at higher prices, and also gets things right in June, July and gets this squad ready for European competitions.
“I don’t see Roy having the right tools to do that. Look, he’s obviously got some skills in terms of a manager that can galvanise a squad.
“We understand that, but that’s not the role I see that’s needed at Celtic right now. So I would discount Roy as a possible option.”

Keane sent the rumour mill into meltdown after being spotted at the recent disappointing Glasgow Derby at Celtic Park, a game which the hoops lost by one goal to nil to further heap the pressure on Martin O’Neill.
The Manchester United and Ireland legend is not the man the supporters want as manager, although the Celtic support don’t need Keith Wyness or anyone else to tell us that.

It’s doubtful that Roy Keane would want the hassle of being Celtic manager anyway, especially when he currently enjoys a cushy well paid and secure career in the punditry world.
