FC Bayern continues to be linked with Matías Fernández-Pardo. Now, it appears another prominent club is joining the race to sign the talented Belgian attacker.

Matías Fernández-Pardo is one of the most exciting young attacking players in Europe. The Belgian national team player drew attention with strong performances last season at Lille OSC and is said to have sparked interest from several top clubs as a result.

Recent reports indicated that, in addition to Borussia Dortmund, FC Bayern is also closely monitoring the 21-year-old’s situation. Now, however, there is new competition in the race for the attacker.

As transfer reporter Sacha Tavolieri reports, Aston Villa is taking a close interest in Fernández-Pardo. According to the report, officials from the Premier League club have already made contact with the player’s entourage.

Aston Villa scouts are currently at the World Cup in the U.S. to observe several potential transfer targets in person. Fernández-Pardo is said to be among the players being analyzed particularly closely.

The Belgian has made only a brief appearance so far in his national team’s 1-1 draw against Egypt. Nevertheless, he apparently continues to be held in high regard within the team.

His World Cup performances could prove decisive

Above all, his performances for Lille OSC have drawn the attention of numerous clubs. In the past Ligue 1 season, Fernández-Pardo played in 29 league matches and was directly involved in 13 goals. Eight goals and five assists underscore his potential.

His speed, versatility on offense, and finishing ability in particular are said to have impressed potential suitors.

According to Tavolieri, his upcoming appearances at the World Cup could now play a key role. Aston Villa is reportedly continuing to closely monitor his development and may consider making a concrete offer depending on how the tournament unfolds.

However, a potential transfer is likely to be anything but cheap. According to information from Fussballtransfers.com, Lille OSC is reportedly asking for a transfer fee of around 70 million euros. The attacking player’s contract runs through 2029.

It is precisely this price tag that likely explains why a move to FC Bayern currently seems rather difficult. The Munich club is currently focusing primarily on finalizing the transfers of Ismael Saibari and Nathaniel Brown.

Nevertheless, Fernández-Pardo remains a player whom the decision-makers at Säbener Straße apparently have on their radar. However, Aston Villa is now another serious suitor closely monitoring the Belgian international’s progress. The World Cup could prove to be the decisive showcase for his future.
