Next injury shock? FC Bayern fears for Konrad Laimer

FC Bayern suffered another injury setback in their 3-1 away win against 1 FC Köln, with Konrad Laimer forced to retire in injury time, causing concern on the Munich bench

It was particularly bitter that Bayern had already exhausted their quota of substitutes by the time Laimer was forced off. Vincent Kompany’s team therefore had to survive the final minutes short-handed while the Austrian left the pitch limping. Laimer received treatment on his left calf on the substitutes‘ bench – an initial warning sign that increased the record champions‘ worries

After the final whistle, head coach Vincent Kompany gave a cautious update on his midfielder’s situation. „Konny felt something in his calf. We’ll have to wait and see. Tomorrow we’ll travel back to Munich, where he’ll undergo an examination. Hopefully everything is fine,“ explained the Belgian. A precise diagnosis is therefore still pending, and the coming hours are likely to be decisive

Laimer’s possible injury comes at a bad time for FC Bayern, as Josip Stanisic suffered an ankle injury last weekend and will be out for several weeks. If Laimer is also absent for a longer period of time, the already tense personnel situation in defence would be further exacerbated

All-clear for Kane and Ito – little time to recover

At least Kompany was able to give the all-clear for two other shaky players. Both Harry Kane and Hiroki Ito had to be treated during the game, but were able to continue. „They were both able to continue playing,“ the Bayern coach clarified

However, the Munich team do not have much time to recover. The next top match is already scheduled for next Saturday, when FC Bayern face RB Leipzig away from home. Whether Laimer will be available will be decided after the medical examinations in Munich. Until then, the record champions will once again have to wait and hope.
