Real Madrid are already on the hunt for their next manager as Carlo Ancelotti inches toward the exit door at the Bernabeu.

It’s obvious for all to see that club president Florentino Perez wants a new face in the dugout, which is why Ancelotti has reportedly agreed to manage Brazil at the end of this season.

The 65-year-old head coach may have won three Champions League titles over two stints in charge, but failure in Europe and defeat to Barcelona in the Copa del Rey final this season have spelled the end of his successful tenure.

But just who is going to replace Ancelotti at Real? Here’s the latest on the club’s search for a new manager.

Who is going to be the next Real Madrid manager?

There is one runaway favourite to take the reins: Xabi Alonso. The Bayer Leverkusen boss has impressed in his first senior role, leading the team to their first ever Bundesliga title and the DFB-Pokal, going the entire season undefeated until they lost the Europa League final to Atalanta last year.

The Spaniard has a connection with Real after winning the Champions League with the club as a player, while he was also a youth team coach for a brief period. He has one year remaining on his contract, but Leverkusen CEO Fernando Carro says they have a “gentlemen’s agreement” to let him leave if one of his former clubs come calling.

Spanish outlet Relevo claim that Alonso intends on informing Leverkusen of his desire to return to Madrid in the coming days.

Jurgen Klopp is another big name linked with the job, but it’s unlikely the former Liverpool manager will leave his current role as Head of Global Soccer with the Red Bull football group.

Andoni Iraola has also been mentioned as a potential successor to Ancelotti thanks to his impressive spell in charge of Bournemouth, while club legend Raul has been given odds of 8/1 to get the job by one major bookmaker.

Next Real Madrid manager odds:

Xabi Alonso – 4/7

Jurgen Klopp – 5/2

Andoni Iraola – 5/1

Raul – 8/1

Zinedine Zidane – 20/1

Roberto De Zerbi – 20/1

Jose Mourinho – 20/1

Unai Emery – 25/1

Mikel Arteta – 25/1
