FC Bayern is scouting for promising young players worldwide. After the Munich club was recently heavily linked to Manchester United’s 15-year-old top prospect JJ Gabriel, the name of another teenager has now appeared on the German record champions’ radar.

According to information from Football Insider, Bayern is among several top European clubs monitoring Adama Jeng. The 15-year-old midfielder from The Gambia reportedly caught the eye of Munich scouts at an U17 tournament in Senegal.

Jeng apparently impressed with his performances there, sparking interest not only from FC Bayern. Benfica, Sporting Lisbon, Paris FC, and, in particular, Chelsea FC are also said to be tracking the youngster’s development.

Bayern Has Its Eye on the African Talent Market

The fact that the Munich club is monitoring Jeng is fundamentally in line with the club’s transfer strategy. For several years now, Bayern has been making a concerted effort to identify exceptional talent early on and secure their loyalty before they make their definitive breakthrough.

BILD reporter Christian Falk confirmed to cfbayerninsider.com that the record champions are actively engaged with the African market. However, it remains unclear just how far their interest in Jeng has actually progressed.

“I’m not sure how concrete that might be,” Falk explained. Interest from the Premier League currently appears to be much more concrete: “What I can confirm, though, is that Chelsea is keeping an eye on the teenager—perhaps even more so than Bayern.”

So there’s currently no talk of discussions, an offer, or concrete negotiations between Bayern and Jeng. At this point, it seems to be primarily a matter of scouting.

After Gabriel, the next 15-year-old talent

Jeng isn’t the only 15-year-old Bayern is currently keeping an eye on. Reports about Manchester United’s JJ Gabriel have been much more concrete recently.

The English attacking player is being courted by several European heavyweights. Bayern is said to have been in contact with his entourage for months. Sporting director Christoph Freund recently described Gabriel publicly as an “exceptional talent.”

In the race for Gabriel, however, the Munich club faces stiff competition from Spain. According to the latest reports, the player and his entourage are leaning toward a move to Spain, with Gabriel himself reportedly favoring FC Barcelona in particular. Real Madrid is also in the running.

In the case of Jeng, Bayern still seems to be significantly further away from a possible transfer. Nevertheless, the interest in the Gambian player once again demonstrates how broadly the Munich club is now searching for the stars of tomorrow.

Whether this scouting effort will actually lead to a transfer bid remains completely open at this point. Chelsea, in particular, seems to be keeping at least as close an eye on Jeng as FC Bayern is at the moment.
